BCSLS MLA Approved School and Laboratory Programs

New MLA program application

  • Public and private colleges must apply for approval before being added to our list of approved programs.

    • Register for the application process. $3000 application fee (non-refundable) PER LOCATION.

    • After you have registered, you will receive a confirmation letter from BCSLS which will include all of the forms that you need to fill out and send it back to bcsls@bcsls.net

    • Your information needs to be submitted all together in one email.

    • Once your submission is received, in full, the initial review process will take place

    • The review committee may need you to revise or submit more information.

    • Upon approval of application, a site visit will be arranged.


Competency Guidelines & Policy

BCSLS reviews applications from public and private colleges, to determine whether their MLA programs meet BCSLS Competency Guidelines. 


BCSLS MLA Approved Schools

Graduates of approved programs can apply for BCSLS certification after graduation. For more detailed information on BCSLS MLA certification or what you need to know for working in a BC Lab, see our web pages.

Only graduates of BCSLS Approved MLA programs get preferential hiring by health authorities and Lifelabs in BC. Make sure that the MLA program you choose is BCSLS Approved. To see a list of BCSLS Approved MLA programs see below.

  • Saskatchewan Polytechnic (After April 2019)

  • MTI (after January 2019)
