Confirmed Congress Speakers

The BCSLS Annual Congress is our premiere event of the year, bringing together laboratory professionals, educators, and industry representatives from across the province and nationally.

  • Speakers agenda - coming in the spring

  • October 3-5, 2024

  • Where: Ocean Pointe Resort in Victoria BC MAP

  • Presentation types: 50 minutes + 10 QnA or Workshop (110 minutes + QnA)

SPEAKER HOTEL ACCOMMODATION - OCEAN POINTE RESORT - CONGRESS HEADQUARTERS HOTEL

Audience: BCSLS is a professional association of Medical Laboratory Technologists and Medical Laboratory Assistants working in public and private medical laboratories throughout British Columbia, Canada. Since this is our first virtual congress, we do not know the estimated number of attendees at each presentation.

Honorarium and Speaker bonuses:

  • A small gift will be presented by the Congress Committee in appreciation of the Speakers’ donation of time and expertise.

  • You are welcome to join us for lunch on the day of your presentation

  • Your Congress Pass(es):

    o Stay for the day of your presentation and watch any of the other presentations.

    o If you would like to attend on the other non-presenting days then we have a discounted registration for speakers. Register here for only $25/day.

  • Speaker expenses that are eligible for submission are:

    • 1 night’s accommodation at the Congress hotel, using the group rate ( maximum of $229 plus taxes).

    • 1 day of parking (up to $26 plus taxes)

    • Up to $150 for all Transportation expenses that are supported with receipts or documents of Mileage: Mileage, Ferry, flight, taxis

  • Other:

    • Where two or more speakers are presenting a single lecture: accommodation, transportation and meal expenses are paid for the equivalent of one speaker.

    • Where one speaker is presenting two topics in one day, BCSLS covers expenses for 1 day.

    • Where one speaker is presenting on two different days,  BCSLS will cover two night’s accommodation if required.

Important Dates:

  • May 1, 2024 - Finalization of presentation title

  • September 5, 2024 - Presentation submission

  • October 3-5, 2024- BCSLS Congress 2024

Speakers’ Responsibilities:

  • Registering yourself as a Congress speaker: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2024CongressSpeaker

  • Sending the following information to the BCSLS office (angie@bscls.net): Bio, title of presentation, Presentation description, and any special needs (handouts, etc…).

  • Book your own accommodation if needed.

  • Presentation submission deadline is Sept 5th

  • Bring your presentation on a stick as well!!

SOCIAL EVENTS: You are welcome to join us at our evening social events on October 3rd or 4th but you will need to register separately on our Congress social events webpage.
