Call for Abstracts for the 2026 Pre and Post Analytical Symposium

Theme: Back to the Future!!  This Symposium will explore the exciting and fascinating past, present, and future of the Pre and Post Analytic World in Laboratory Medicine!

📍 Location: Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Surrey, BC

The BC Society of Laboratory Science (BCSLS) is excited to invite dynamic, engaging speakers to present at our 2026 Pre and Post Analytical Symposium. It is taking place on March 5–6, 2026 at KPU in Surrey, BC. This highly anticipated event will gather laboratory professionals, educators, and leaders from across the province.

This year’s theme, Back to the Future, calls on speakers to either take a brief look at our history, speak on matters of current interest and educational needs to those in the PPA world or share the coming innovations shaping our future. Whether you’re a seasoned speaker or first-time presenter—this is your opportunity to make an impact.

🕒 Submission Deadline: October 15, 2025

We’re seeking presentations that explore one of the following:

  • Historical milestones in PPA Lab science and practice

  • A presentation that meets the needs for current continuing education for those working in the PPA world

  • Technological advances in pre/post-analytical workflows

  • Automation, AI, innovation, and the digital transformation of labs

  • Preparing the next generation of Medical Laboratory Professionals

  • Any current topic of interest to BC’s PPA laboratory community


 Presentation Formats:

  • Standard Session: 20/25-minute talk + 5/10-minute Q&A

  • Extended Session: 50-minute talk + 10-minute Q&A
    (Note: All sessions must be delivered in person. Remote submissions are not accepted.)

What’s in it for you as a speaker?  While BCSLS does not offer an honorarium, speakers will receive:

  • Complimentary access to one or both days of the Symposium (pre-registration required)

  • Lunch and refreshments

  • A thank-you gift

 Deadlines

  • o   October 15th, 2025 - Presentation submission deadline.  See below application link

  • o   October 20 – November 15 - Selection process

  • o   Nov 25, 2025 - Speakers will be notified

  • o   Dec 15 – Speakers must confirm participation by officially registering as a presenter.  A link will be emailed to you upon acceptance of presentation.

 In your application you will need to supply the following information:

  • Name, email, cell phone, job title

  • Name of co-presenter if you choose to have one

  • Speaker bio (200-300 words)

  • Confirming your availability on certain event dates and times.

  • Presentation information

  • Presentation type and duration. 

  • Presentation topic (up to 20 words)

  • Presentation title if you have it now. 

  • Abstract / Description (Max 200 words)

  • Intended Audience?

  • Has the content been presented elsewhere?

 Terms and conditions. 

  • Agreement and confirmation of certain policies and procedures

  • Recorded presentations will be available to delegates for 6 weeks after the event

  • Deadline for PowerPoint submission is February 15, 2026

  • Speakers must present in-person
