Speaker’s Call for Abstracts

The BCSLS and the Symposium committee are now accepting applications to present at our upcoming BCSLS Symposium in Surrey, BC. 

Dates: March 5 & 6, 2026

Where: Surrey KPU – Kwantlen Polytechnic University - 12666 72 Ave, Surrey, BC

  • BCSLS is a professional association of medical laboratory technologists and medical laboratory assistants, working in both public and private laboratories throughout BC. 

  • The BCSLS Annual Symposium brings together laboratory professionals, educators, and industry representatives from across the province and nationally.

  • Our speaker agenda encompasses all laboratory disciplines and includes a broad spectrum of topics.

  • The number of attendees at each presentation can range from 120 to 300.

  • Delegates are participating in-person and virtually

  • ALL PRESENTERS MUST PRESENT IN-PERSON

 Presentation options:  

  • 50 minutes +10 minute Q&A

  • 25 min + 5 min Q&A

  • Other … We are open to your ideas.

 Deadlines

  • o   October 20th, 2025 - Presentation submission deadline.  See below application link

  • o   October 20 – November 15 - Selection process

  • o   Nov 25, 2025 - Speakers will be notified

  • o   Dec 15 – Speakers must confirm participation by officially registering as a presenter.  A link will be emailed to you upon acceptance of presentation.

 In your application you will need to supply the following information:

  • Name, email, cell phone, job title

  • Name of co-presenter if you choose to have one

  • Speaker bio (200-300 words)

  • Confirming your availability on certain event dates and times.

  • Presentation information

  • Presentation type and duration. 

  • Presentation topic (up to 20 words)

  • Presentation title if you have it now. 

  • Abstract / Description (Max 200 words)

  • Intended Audience?

  • Has the content been presented elsewhere?

 Eligibility criteria

  • o   Dates of availability

  • o   Locality

  • o   Audience Experience level

  • o   Your experience in delivering presentations

 Terms and conditions. 

  • Agreement and confirmation of certain policies and procedures

  • Recorded presentations will be available to delegates for 6 weeks after the event

  • Deadline for PowerPoint submission is February 15, 2026

  • Speakers must present in-person
