BCSLS Mission Statement: Elevating medical laboratory professions in British Columbia through innovation, continuing education, advocacy and excellence in practice.

BCSLS is an open and democratic non-profit society. Its members work mainly in medical laboratories throughout the province of British Columbia. They are committed to providing quality health care and improving patient safety. Their values include honesty, integrity and accountability in their professional and personal lives.

BCSLS offers our members the opportunity to be recognized as professionals ensuring the continued high standards of health care in our province.

Sharmen Vigouret Lee

Sharmen brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Executive Director role and to the BCSLS organization. She has held a multitude of positions throughout her distinguished career with expertise in strategic, operating, and business planning, board governance, laboratory accreditation, regulation and regulatory practices, government relations, education, policy analysis and project and contract management. Sharmen holds a Diploma of Medical Laboratory Science, a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, a Master’s Degree in Health Administration, and is currently working on her Doctor of Education in Leadership and Policy.
