The BCSLS gives Honourary Awards to outstanding Medical Laboratory Professionals each year at our Annual General Meeting. Every year we call for nominations in three categories; Achievement, Excellence, Recognition.

Awards are presented at the BCSLS AGM.  The nominee does not have to attend Congress/AGM in order to receive this award.  This year the AGM is in Kelowna, BC during the 2023 Congress. AGM is Sept 22.

We will not be accepting self nominations.

Achievement Award:

Eligibility: BCSLS member

Criteria:  The nominee has been employed as Medical Laboratory Professional for greater than 10 years and has demonstrated significant career achievements. The nominee demonstrates longstanding commitment, dedication, mentorship, involvement in the Medical Laboratory profession inside and outside of their position of employment (boards, committees, volunteer hours).  The nominee has made a significant contribution to serve the needs of the Medical Laboratory Community. This nominee is an advocate for best practices, quality, and the best interests of our Medical Laboratory Professionals.

Excellence Award:

Eligibility:  BCSLS member

Criteria: The nominee demonstrates commitment to excellence and quality and  has had significant involvement in a variety of projects and initiatives.  This individual is a leader and a champion of the Medical  Laboratory profession.  This individual is actively involved in lab quality improvement through innovation, change management, and systems transformation.

Recognition Award:

 Eligibility: BCSLS members and non-BCSLS members 

 Criteria:  This nominee is a BCSLS or non-BCSLS member who has been nominated by a colleague and endorsed by a leader (Site Supervisor, Team Lead, Technical Practice Lead etc.).  This nominee is recognized for a significant contribution to a project and/or proven demonstration of dedication and commitment during times of change or challenge.  The nominator must provide examples of how this individual has gone above and beyond to demonstrate strength of character and commitment to providing quality lab services and patient care.
