Do you have research, innovation, or a lab-related project you’re proud of? Share it with the BC lab community at Congress 2026!

We’re inviting students, educators, and professionals in the medical laboratory field to present posters that showcase:

πŸ§ͺ Quality improvement initiatives
πŸ“Š Case studies or innovations in practice
πŸ“š Educational or professional development projects

This is your opportunity to:

βœ”οΈ Gain recognition for your work
βœ”οΈ Network with peers, educators, and leaders in the field

Poster Presentation Information

  •  If your abstract is accepted:

  • The presenter is responsible for printing and bringing the poster mounted on a hard poster board.

  • BCSLS will provide easels for display.

  • Posters must be no larger than 4 ft x 4 ft.

  • If you plan to attend the Congress in person, you will be required to register as a Congress delegate.

  • Presenters are encouraged to be available near their poster during designated poster viewing times to discuss their work with attendees.

Posters will be displayed throughout Congress 2026.

ABSTRACT PROPOSAL FORM

Abstracts should include:

  • Do not exceed 400 words!

  • Abstract Form

  • Poster Title, Author(s). Institution / Organization, Presenting Author

  • First and Last Name, Email, Cell Phone, Address

  • Introduction / Objective

  • A brief description of the research, program, or idea and the need it addresses.

  • Design and Methods

  • This section should be the longest and most detailed part of the abstract. Content will vary depending on the type of research or activity conducted.

    • Results

    • The outcomes of the research or activity conducted.

      Conclusions

    • Implications for practice or policy; future directions.

      Acknowledgements

    • This section enables you to recognize individuals or organizations that contributed to the work.

    • Figures / Tables

    • High-quality diagrams or tables may be included within the available abstract space.

  • Abstract Form

Important Dates:

2026 Deadlines

  • March: Call for Abstracts sent out

  • May 31: Abstract submission deadline.  Abstract submissions will remain open until August 1, 2026; however, presenters are strongly encouraged to submit before the summer months begin.

  • Poster approvals will be conducted on a rolling basis. Submitters will be notified during the following review periods:

    β€’ First review: June

    β€’ Second review: July

    β€’ Final review: August

  • August 10 – Presenters must confirm participation

  • Sept 1– Send a picture of your poster to bcsls@bcsls.net

  • It’s up to you to bring it to the event before Sept 24 @ 7am or to mail it to an address in Penticton that we will send to you.

About the Event

The BCSLS Annual Congress is our premiere event of the year, bringing together laboratory professionals, educators, and industry representatives from across the province and nationally.

●       BCSLS is a professional association of medical laboratory professionals working in both public and private laboratories throughout BC. 

●       The conference brings together laboratory professionals, educators, and industry representatives from across the province and nationally. Attendees typically include laboratory technologists and medical laboratory assistants ranging from leaders to front-line staff.

●       Delegates are participating in-person and virtually. The number of attendees at each session can range from 10 to 200, depending on the topic and number of sessions running simultaneously.

●       Congress topics include notable experiences, interesting cases, new technology or upcoming changes in the field of Chemistry, Hematology, Anatomical Pathology, Transfusion Medicine, Molecular Diagnostics, Microbiology, Pre & Post Analytic, Cytogenetics, Lab Quality and Safety, Laboratory Leadership, etc.
